How long will it take for Canada and the US to become close friends and allies again once the tariff problem is resolved?

The trust is lost…we don’t trust you…we are scared of you…the US made all of this happen…there is no quick reset even if the USA dropped all the tariffs tomorrow and made a heartfelt apology to the world (which of course is not going to happen). We still think collectively you are completely nuts and need to be kept at arm’s length to protect ourselves from you.

We will trade with you again…probably. It depends on how horrifically the USA chooses to destroy their economy, our economy and the global economy. If MAGA screw it up badly enough there won’t be any reason to trade with the US because there will be little to trade…the USA will be completely on their own.

Canada and the rest of the world are quickly pivoting all of our trade and security agreements away from the USA because the Americans have shown themselves as a government and a populace to be completely unreliable. The USA and Trump are currently considered the greatest single threat to global security… above Putin and Kim and Xi…

Ive been pretending to be okay and acting as normal as possible, but Im actually completely heartbroken after a recent breakup. Its painful and really affecting me, to the point where I cant concentrate at work, Ive lost my appetite, I cant sleep, and It feels as if my whole world has been turned upside down. I loved him so much. He said so many cruel things to me and it made me realize he must not have loved me the way I loved him, or he wouldnt have said such horrible things. How do I handle the heartbreak and why cant I accept that he didnt love me and just forget about him?

I am Canadian, I am fifty years old. I likely have another thirty or so years left in me. The relationship Canada shared with the USA for over 100 years is over and will not be repaired in my lifetime. Anyone who has reached the age of reason in Canada will remember this and it will be at the forefront of our national consciousness for generations to come.
